Play Garbage Card Game for Free Online
Garbage, also called Trash, is a simple family card game where players race to fill a layout from Ace through 10. The playable version above uses a two-player game against the computer with draw and discard choices, Kings as wild cards, shorter follow-up rounds, undo, saved progress, and mobile-friendly controls.
Objective
The objective is to complete your layout before the computer. In the first round you fill 10 slots, then each round you win reduces your layout by one card until you clear the final one-card round.
Setup and Play Area
- Garbage uses one standard 52-card deck with no jokers in this version.
- Each player starts with 10 face-down cards in numbered positions.
- The rest of the deck becomes the stock, and one card starts the discard pile.
- Aces count as 1, number cards 2 through 10 go in their matching positions, Kings are wild, and Jacks and Queens are dead cards.
Available Moves
- Draw the top stock card or take the top discard card.
- Place an Ace through 10 into its matching slot if that slot is still face down or contains a wild King.
- Place a King into any face-down slot as a wild card.
- Keep playing the displaced card if it can be placed somewhere useful.
- Discard when the held card is a Jack, Queen, duplicate, or otherwise cannot fit.
Garbage Card Game Strategy
- Take the discard when it fills a known open slot.
- Use Kings to open hidden slots, but replace a wild King with the natural card later if possible.
- Track which slots are still face down so you know when a drawn card is live.
- Do not hold dead cards. Discard Jacks, Queens, and duplicate natural cards quickly.
- Use undo while learning the chain reaction created when a card displaces another face-down card.
Variants
- Some groups play without Kings as wilds. CardGamesHQ uses Kings as wilds because that is one of the common family rulesets.
- Some versions call the game Trash, Ten, or Garbage. The core Ace-through-10 layout is the same.
- Some games use more decks for larger groups. This online version starts with a focused two-player one-deck game against the computer.
